I originally planned to have what is now CalderaWP ready by October 1st of last year. I also planned on working alone. The delay is proof of the proverb that Corey Miller from iThemes always quotes in his awesome WordCamp talks: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
Instead, I teamed up with David Cramer, who I met through working on the Pods Framework project. And today we launch with six products, a nice handful of free plugins and have more in the pipeline. More importantly, thanks to David, they are way better than anything I could have made alone.
User Experience Is All That Matters
For your site visitors, how the page that they are looking at in their browser got there doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that using it is intuitive.
For site owners, no matter how many things a plugin can do, if the UI isn’t intuitive, then none of those cool features matter.
That’s why our motto is “Transform Your WordPress Experience.” For our plugins, limiting page loads, and intuitive experience is our priority, front-end and backend.
That’s not all. Next month, we will begin offering WordPress training for WordPress developers. One of the most amazing parts of my job is empowering others to do better work with WordPress and it’s time to scale that.
Not Just Caldera Forms
If you’re familiar with Caldera Forms, the drag and drop responsive form builder that David made, then you might think that CalderaWP is all about forms. And yes, we’ve got four cool add-ons for Caldera Forms for sale today with a lot more coming. But that’s not all we are doing. But it’s a cool name, so we’re using it.
Today we launch with two additional premium plugins. The first, Caldera Easy Pods, is a visual query builder and front-end tool for Pods. The second Caldera Custom Login, turns the WordPress login screen into a single panel experience while giving you all of the visual customization options you need.
We also are releasing a new plugin today on WordPress.org–Caldera Metaplate. This cool plugin gives you simple, yet powerful template editor, designed to make it easy to integrate custom fields, added by Pods, Advanced Content Fields, Custom Field Suite, or really any tool with your theme.
As I mentioned above, I will also be offering training through this site, as part of what we call “Caldera Answers.” That’s still to come, but in the mean time, I invited you to check out the Caldera Answers Search. It’s a collection that I’ve been working on for awhile, of my opinion on the best answers of how to do X with WordPress. It started as a way for me to stop googling the same things over and over again. I’m happy to finally make it public, to share it with you. Also, it’s a lovely example of the kind of search forms you can build using Caldera Easy Pods:)
